Maple Wood Columns

Maple Wood columns
Wood has been a traditional building material for centuries. Unfortunately, the only ancient columns that survive today were made from stone. However, by looking at these stone columns, we can imagine how spectacular they would have looked when made out of a hardwood such as maple. Today, you can use maple wood columns in your home or building project.

Maple is one very hard wood that is light tan to nearly white in color. Maple is quite dense and does not absorb stain well. Any stains applied are usually in the finish. Often, maple is not stained and left to display its natural beauty with just a sealer for protection. Maple wood columns will enhance the appearance of your building project.

Maple wood columns can be made from classical designs which incorporate fluting, or vertical grooves, in their shafts. Maple wood columns can also be smooth. You might enjoy having square maple wood columns. And, you can pair your columns with a choice of maple wood capitals that range from those with classical acanthus leaf decorations to capitals with clean, contemporary lines.

Maple wood columns can be weight bearing or can be used for purely decorative purposes.

Maple wood columns will bring a natural warmth to your home or building project.
