Beech Wood Columns

Wood has long been used to build columns. There are not any remains of ancient columns made from wood left today, but we can still see stone columns that have survived from ancient Greece and Rome. Looking at these columns, it is easy to imagine how beautiful columns made from wood must have been during these periods. If you are considering installing wood columns in your home or building project, why not take a look at beech wood columns?

The wood color in beech wood columns will probably range from pink to reddish brown and will have fine grains with occasional flecking. Beech wood is hard, is strong, and can be easily finished or stained. Many people substitute beech wood for more expensive oak or ash. However, beech wood columns can be beautiful in and of themselves.

Beech wood columns can be made in many distinctive designs. If you are looking for classical features, beech wood columns can be made that have fluting, or vertical grooves, on the shafts and have stylized acanthus leaves on the capitals. You might be more interested in square columns or in tapered columns. Regardless of the design that you choose, your beech wood columns will add a natural warmth that will add to the overall ambiance of your building.

Beech wood columns may be just the right choice in columns for you.
